Agropastoril dos Poções e Participações LTDA., out of respect for the Gir cattle breeders and members of the Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders, appears before the media to express its opinion on the Radar dos Poções case (A7368), a bull that not only bears its mark, but it is a mirror of all the dedication and passion committed over the years to the benefit of the quality of the Brazilian squad of Gir.
As widely reported in the specialized media, since the first half of 2011 the Genealogical Registry of Zebu Breeds, allegedly under the decision-making influence of MAPA, has barred registrations of descendants of the bull Radar dos Poções. sale of “fake semen” by Radar dos Poções.
However, all Radar dos Poções products – including those fruits of natural reproduction – were harmed by the precautionary measures of this Association, instituting the obligation to carry out a DNA exam, until 12.31.2011, for the confirmation of kinship and consequent Registration Definitive. As a result, animals that did not qualify as relatives of that bull would be relegated to the Open Book category (1).
Regardless of whether one disagrees with the measures – not least because they did not contribute to the discovery and punishment of those who falsified (armed) Radar’s semen –, it seems that the eventual (administrative) insurgency at this moment could bring even greater harm. to the creators, in view of the delay in the legal procedures and, thus, in the release of the records.
Therefore, in compliance with what was determined by ABCZ, Agropastoril dos Poções tested its animals that have a link with Radar, among them, Emulo dos Poções (APPG224). Regarding this bull, whose progeny is recognized worldwide, the result was the non-qualification as a son of Radar, a situation already reported to ABCZ.
This result left all professionals involved with Emulo perplexed since his birth, including because, according to the birth records (dated 1992), his mother was grazing with Radar dos Poções; yet, his blood typing test – because at the time proof of descent by DNA test was not required –, dated 2007, gave his ancestry as probable, removing the benefit of the doubt.
It so happens that, almost twenty years after Emulo’s birth, MAPA’s actions (consubstantiated in ABCZ acts) – untimely, unreasonable and disrespecting various legal principles and rules – made it impossible to discover the real paternity of that animal, which is why your record will be changed, placing it in the “Open Book 1” category.
Evidently, these attitudes, in principle, could harm not only Agropastoril dos Poções, but all those who invested in the Emulo dos Poções brand. However, there are rules in the new SRGRZ Regulation specific to the case, obtained through the efforts of the RGRZ Superintendence and the work of ABCZ associates before MAPA. These rules, already approved by the ABCZ Board and pending publication, practically eliminate the possibility of harm to creators. Complementing this is the promise that animals with Emulo descent – or any other animal in the same situation – will be able to participate in ABCZ events, also because, as previously stated, the quality of their descendants is amply proven.
Finally, as Agropastoril dos Poções is certain that MAPA’s attitudes related to the case could never harm the breeders – because they contravene the acquired right, the perfect legal act, in addition to other principles and rules -, the willingness to take any measure in the interest of breeders who eventually feel harmed, restoring respect, above all, to those who make an effort to develop the Gir breed.
